Torniamo in Italia

We flew out today on an uneventful flight from Santa Fe to JFK and will spend the night. We fly to Rome tomorrow via Dublin and then take a train straight to the city of Bologna, meeting up with our friends Rick and Sharon. Hoping for another uneventful journey. Check back in a couple of days to see what Bologna is like.

Parma

We took an hour-long train ride northwest of Bologna to Parma. This is another lovely town, very uncrowded except for the Italian school kids on their end-of-year field trips. We walked the narrow streets and alleyways, stopping at the Duomo and a café or two for wine.  We were very lucky to come across an exhibit commerating the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Parma from the Nazis and paying homage to the many partisans who resisted the occupation. It reminds us how harmful fascism and nationalism can be. It was also great to remember that once we were heroes. We leave tomorrow to return to Rome and meet up with our tour! A presto!
